Activision Blizzard announced the financial results of the settlement in the fourth quarter and 2022 fiscal year. Activision Blizzard's four-quarter net profit rose 7.9% year-on-year to $2.33 billion (about 2.94 trillion won).
In 2022, the total net sales also grew 2% year-on-year, recording $8.51 billion (about 10.7 trillion won). However, in 2022, the total net profit decreased by 14.5% year-on-year to $7.52 billion (9.55 billion).
Activision Blizzard also mentioned net sales growth in the fourth quarter with positive achievements. Activision Blizzard celebrated its performance in the fourth quarter of 2022, with a net selling sales of $35.66 billion, up 43% year-on-year. In addition, the company reiterated the core title by re-mentioning the high-opening quarter sales rate of 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2'. In addition, the achievements of World of Warcraft: Yong gun and Overwatch 2 also added to the record results.
However, the operating profit of each part of the Activision Blizzard only caught up with the previous year's achievements, even in the performance of Modern Warfare 2. Activision, Blizzard and King, respectively, $1,17 million, $625 million, $1,211 million, respectively. The company raised its operating profit and accepted the total operating profit of $442 million last year. Activision, Blizzard, and King were all unable to avoid operating profit from the previous year. In particular, King, which has been consistently complied with, suffered a decrease in operating profit of $75 million, unlike Activision and Blizzard, where operating profit rose $395 million and $150 million in the fourth quarter, respectively.
Activision Blizzard explained that the decrease in operating profit was due to the re-review and payment of the overall compensation structure that was made in 2021.
Meanwhile, Activision, which has grown in the fourth quarter with the achievements of Call of Duty and War zone 2.0, announced that it will introduce more attractive live service and premium release in 2023. However, many analysts that these expressions may not mean a complete new work. Many of them, such as Bloomberg, cited internal sources, mentioned that the 2023 new work in the Activision is an expansion pack, not a new work. Activision also reported that the announcement of the day was once again used in the presentation, as the premium release instead of the new work, and the work of the Modern Warfare 2 story will be released.
King said sales has increased compared to the same period last year, but operating profit decreased due to claims.
